05 Text 2: The advantages of Chinese medicine

In the last few years, alternative ways of healing diseases have become popular in the Western world. This is quite surprising, as only more conventional medicine was used until today. The new techniques were originated in Eastern countries, mainly China, many and many centuries ago, and are part of a very long tradition. However, they were practically unknown in Europe and Americauntil the 20th-21st century.

Traditional treatments and medicine practices have proved to be useless to cure certain illnesses, so more and more people have now faith in Chinese medicine as a solid alternative today. The range of practices is actually very wide, and these are just a few examples:

-acupuncture, or the insertion of needles into the skin at very specific points in your body.

-massages

-herbal medicine, or the use of ginseng teas and other roots to clean your body from harmful fluids.

-martial arts practice, especially Tai Chi.

Despite its popularity, some other people believe that these alternative treatments are not as good and reliable as surgery and other types of conventional practices. It is therefore a controversial matter which will probably continue in the near future. As it is, whether you prefer one or the other, it is always beneficial to have different options available to find a cure to your health problems.
